I tip my hat to creativity!

April 6th, 2010

Time after time I am amazed by how creative people get when it comes to save ink and money. Take a look at the latest “Here’s a legal way to print money: change the font”

According to the press release one can save $20 a year by using ink efficient fonts, i.e. Century Gothic.  While this is a good idea and should be added to the list of good ideas like: print in draft mode and avoid printing when possible.

You can save much more then $20/year, and reduce ink consumption when you print text, graphics, and images, and keep the fonts that make your document look good, by using PretonSaver Home. A software that optimize ink on every print.

Try it today and save ink, save the environment and save money.

ITC Sides With H-P on Patent Cases

March 18th, 2010

Hewlett Packard said Thursday that patent complaints it filed with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) against 11 ink cartridge suppliers have been resolved.

What does this mean for the average ink consumer? Sounds like there’s no relief in sight for inflated ink costs. Here’s the key phrase from the story:

“HP said that InkPlusToner.com and Comptree Ink have agreed that to stop selling the cartridges in question and paid an undisclosed sum of money.”

Patents are a powerful thing…

CNET Ranks Five Best Printers

March 12th, 2010

Justin Yu over at CNET recently wrote about the top five printers on the market. It’s a tough call, but here’s what he came up with:

“We’ve picked the five printers, across all categories, with the highest CNET rating from the past calendar year to satisfy your curiosity.”

The list includes two HPs, two Lexmarks and one Epson. Of course, no matter which printer you buy you still have to buy ink and when it comes to ink savings it won’t matter which printer you use as long as you use PretonSaver Home.

Green Living a ‘Religious Experience’ for Some

March 10th, 2010

There are plenty of good reasons to reduce, reuse and recycle. But you don’t often find people who make the connection between living green and God. That’s why we were pleased to find Creation Hope on the web recently. Creation Hope is dedicated to taking care of “God’s creation.” We couldn’t agree more.

PretonSaver from HalfTheInk will help you save ink, which in return will mean you’ll buy fewer ink cartridges and therefore dispose of fewer ink cartridges in landfills. That’s taking care of the planet!

HP: Ink Cartridge Refills Can Mean Wasted Money

March 8th, 2010

Looks like even printer giant Hewlett Packard knows refilling old ink cartridges is not a solution to saving money on ink. In a recent article on its web site HP wrote: “At first glance, printer ink refills look like a bargain. Sure, they cost less. They also may deliver less.”

What would really be great is if you could print using original ink at the cost of a bargain ink. Well, you can!

Using original ink has clear advantages over bargain ink — you print more pages per cartridge and you avoid cartridge problems.  However, original ink is twice as expensive (and some time even more) than bargain ink. HP states that using HP original ink you can get up to 65% more pages than with bargain ink.  Unfortunately, you’re not saving much if anything because HP original ink is more than 100% more expensive than bargain ink

But by using PretonSaver Home you can save at least 35% of your ink consumption. If you do the math, you will pay 250% more by simply continuing to buy HP ink versus using original ink with PretonSaver Home. And you do so without using bargain ink!

Doing the math you will find that now you can pay up to 250% (2.5 times) more for  HP original ink and yet the cost per printed page will be lower than the cost per page using bargain ink.

PretonSaver Home – where even original  ink is a bargain.

Ink Prices Going Up Again

March 4th, 2010

Sun Chemical, the world’s largest producer of printing inks and pigments, announced this week that it was raising the prices on ink because of increases in the costs of raw materials. In a press release, the company said:

For over 18 months, raw materials and energy cost volatility have significantly impacted the ink industry. Non-traditional factors recently began impacting the price of major feedstocks and raw materials, including: supply base consolidation and capacity curtailment, significant decline in refinery margins, and rationalized operating rates to diminish demand. The combination of these factors has led to elevated fixed costs on raw material goods.

Now more than ever it makes sense to try PretonSaver. Get your free download at www.halftheink.com.
